Computer Engineering, a graduate program was initiated in the year 1994 with a sanctioned intake of 60 students. Since that time, numerous students have gone on to take positions within academic institutions and in industry. The highly motivated, qualified and experienced faculty and the energetic students work together extensively to build interdisciplinary knowledge in the areas of nuclear instrumentation, accelerator instrumentation, instrumentation for high energy physics and astrophysics experiments in addition to process control and bio-medocal instrumentation. Beyond syllabus activities are conducted for the betterment of employment in academia, government organizations, and research, industry, engineering and management positions. Various technical and non-technical forums at provide an exposure to engineering concepts and technology.

Computer Engineering provides the opportunity to work in the continuously changing technology sector. With the development of faster hardware components, new communication systems and software there is a demand for computer Engineers. Computer engineering students study the design of digital hardware and software systems. Computer Engineering encompasses a wide range of topics including operating systems, computer architecture, computer networks, robotics, artificial intelligence and computer-aided design. An important area within computing engineering is the development of embedded system devices such as cell phones, digital audio players, digital video recorders, alarm systems, x-ray machines and laser surgical tools, all require integration of hardware and embedded software and are all the result of computer engineering.
